Terms of Service

Plain-language summary: Compound is a CRO platform. You own your data, your experiment results, and your analytics. We provide the tools. Don't misuse the service, pay on time if you're on a paid plan, and we'll keep building a reliable product for you.

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using Compound ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you are accepting on behalf of a company or organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity. If you don't agree to these Terms, don't use the Service.

The Service is operated by Northpeak LLC ("Northpeak," "we," "us"). These Terms are a contract between you (or your organization) and Northpeak.

2. Description of service

Compound is a conversion rate optimization (CRO) platform that:

  • Audits your website to identify conversion opportunities
  • Connects to your analytics tools (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity) to surface data-driven experiment ideas
  • Helps you design, launch, and track A/B tests and site experiments
  • Reports results and estimated revenue impact

3. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@northpeak.io if you suspect unauthorized access.

You must provide accurate information when creating your account. You may not create accounts for the purpose of reselling access or circumventing plan limits.

4. Data ownership and alpha protection

You own your data. Analytics data, experiment results, conversion metrics, and any other data you bring into or generate within Compound belong to you. Northpeak claims no ownership over your data.

Alpha protection. The specific insights, experiment results, and conversion learnings derived from your site are exclusive to your account. Northpeak does not:

  • Share your experiment results or site performance data with other Compound clients
  • Use your analytics data to generate recommendations for other clients
  • Train AI or machine learning models on your site-specific data
  • Aggregate your conversion rates into cross-client benchmarks that are sold or shared

We may use anonymized, aggregated, non-identifiable data (e.g., "X% of audited sites had above-the-fold issues") for product improvement and marketing, provided no individual site or company can be identified.

5. Third-party integrations

To connect Google Analytics, you grant Compound read-only access to your GA4 property via OAuth. We store the OAuth refresh token encrypted. You can revoke access at any time from your Compound dashboard or from your Google Account permissions page at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Your use of connected third-party services (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity) is governed by those services' own terms and privacy policies. Northpeak is not responsible for the practices of third-party services.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to process data for websites you don't own or have authorization to analyze
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or access the Service's underlying infrastructure
  • Use automated scripts to scrape, overload, or abuse the Service
  • Use the Service in violation of applicable laws
  • Share account access in a manner that violates your plan's seat limits

7. Payment and billing

Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis. Prices are listed on our pricing page. All fees are in USD unless otherwise stated.

Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then. We do not provide refunds for the unused portion of a billing period.

Failed payments: If a payment fails, we will attempt to charge again for up to 7 days. If payment is not received after that period, your account may be downgraded to the free tier.

Price changes: We will give you at least 30 days notice before increasing your plan price. Continued use after a price change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new price.

8. Beta features

Some features may be labeled "Beta" or offered during an early access period. Beta features are provided as-is, without warranty, and may change or be discontinued. Founding pricing offered during beta is subject to the terms stated at time of purchase.

9. Service availability

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee 100% uptime. We may perform maintenance, which we will announce in advance when possible. The Service is provided "as is" without any warranty of uninterrupted availability.

10. Intellectual property

Compound, including the platform, software, design, and content we create, is owned by Northpeak and protected by intellectual property law. These Terms do not transfer any ownership to you. You receive a limited, non-exclusive license to use the Service during your subscription.

You retain all rights to your content, data, and any creative work you bring to the platform.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Northpeak's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Northpeak is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits or revenue, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Northpeak and its employees from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service in violation of these Terms or applicable law.

13. Termination

Either party may terminate at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, fail to pay, or if we discontinue the Service.

Upon termination, your access ends immediately. You may export your data before canceling. After termination, we will delete your data within 30 days per our Privacy Policy, except where retention is legally required.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Ohio.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
